Loucks has served as primary consultant on numerous road and parking related projects at Cargill’s corporate headquarters in Minnetonka. The highlighted project involves the renovation of a 2,280-lineal-foot private road and parking lot reconstruction. Loucks’ role included the following: overall project management, land surveying, preliminary and construction design engineering, permitting and public agency coordination, project bidding coordination, construction management and observation, and construction staking.
Throughout the project, Loucks successfully resolved client concerns related to erosion, vehicle and pedestrian safety, and stormwater drainage. Our redesign of an existing rural road section as an urban, curbed road section eliminated issues related to extremely steep grades adjacent to the road. SAFL Baffle stormwater treatment and a new retaining wall addressed erosion and stormwater drainage concerns, and provided an important buffer for an adjacent DNR protected wetland. In order to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety, Loucks reconfigured an existing parking lot and interior intersection into a roundabout, and installed security checkpoints, card readers, and a gatehouse.
