Globe Asphalt Shingle Plant
The brownfield remediation of the Globe Building Materials site consisted of the demolition and removal of an asphalt shingles production plant. Demolition and remediation work above and below grade included the removal of hazardous materials such as asbestos and tar from the building and the soil beneath it. During demolition, a buried streetcar barn was unearthed beneath the building.
Upon completion of the demolition and remediation, Loucks prepared a building pad using structural fill and graded the site to prepare for future development. Loucks designed innovative stormwater management facilities, including the EPIC system developed by Glenn Rehbein Companies, to re-use stormwater for irrigation and infiltration purposes and to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff.
