Pre K – 12

Loucks’ work in Pre K-12 schools includes work for public, private, charter and tribal schools throughout Minnesota and beyond. Loucks worked closely with a local Minneapolis architect for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, in Belcourt, North Dakota. The team worked with School District #7, and Bureau of Indian Education, which operates the school, to complete this 126,000 square-foot replacement high school. The school was Indian Affairs’ first LEED Silver Certified School and was designed to optimize energy performance and daylight views. Other areas of focus included accommodations for alternative transportation, creative methods for capturing stormwater runoff, and the reduction of rooftop heat islands. During design and construction, the project successfully earned 33 project points/credits to earn its LEED Silver Certificate.
