The need to provide quality housing to our greatest generation and their baby boomer children is stronger than ever. Loucks is proud to assist our architect and development partners to help fill that need. One of our more significant projects to this effect was City Bella in Richfield, Minnesota. Our scope included the acquisition and demolition of existing buildings, vacation of existing street rights-of-way, land use analysis, site design and engineering, construction staking and environmental assessment worksheet (EAW). The project included a replacement VFW post on the same site to serve the new residents and the surrounding community.
The 18-story building includes 250 apartment units and 47,000-plus-square office/retail space, complemented by a three-story, 34-unit apartment building with 60 surface parking spaces and underground parking. An urban plaza was built over the underground parking area to create a welcoming gathering space for residents and visitors and complement the adjacent Wood Lake Nature Center.
