Amherst H. Wilder Foundation Demolition by Loucks in Minneapolis

Amherst H. Wilder Foundation

Loucks prepared bid documents for demolition of Wilder’s former eleven-acre campus headquarters which were slated for future redevelopment. The owner proactively demolished the site in order to prepare a clean parcel for sale. The site has a long history, with buildings spanning over 100 years, including uses as a convent and medical clinic, before becoming the headquarters of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation.

Loucks did extensive research of historic records to produce accurate documents and coordinate the demolition work effort. We also assisted with the master planning of Wilder’s former campus headquarters. Our project team studied a variety of options, primarily focused on multifamily housing concepts, to determine potential site opportunities and constraints and define the amount of land that could be divested. In addition, we prepared more detailed design of a new playground and vehicular entry for the Child Care Center scheduled to remain on the property. Work included conceptual design, navigation of the City DSI approval process, construction documents and construction observation.
